The grass is always greener...

I'm at the Corning McDonalds to use their wifi and while it's very cool (awesome yellow leather barstools!) it's hard to be happy.

You see...right across the parking lot is Sonic. I've been sitting here checking my email and uploading photos and I keep getting distracted by all the folks at Sonic. Ooh, that person has a chili dog! That guy looks like he's enjoying a cherry limeade! Hmmm...is that person eating tater tots?

See? It's very distracting! I'm thinking I might have to make a stop on the way back to pick up a limeade. It's like you said on the phone, Becca, they really do taste better down here!

Historic Pocahontas

Larry gave us a great tour of Pocahontas, which is much hillier than what I anticipated. It’s also got a lovely downtown area full of old buildings with a lot of history.

Our first stop was Futrell Pharmacy, where we had been told we could find postcards. We did find postcards plus a soda fountain! It had old Coke signs, stick candy, old fashioned ice cream glasses and red stools for spinning. It was really very cool.

 

 

 

 

 

The old courthouse was available to walk thru but we decided to go to the Randolph County Heritage Museum instead (I’ll do a different post for pictures of that.) One of the cool things they had was a quilt trail. On each of the buildings in the downtown area they had huge posters of different quilt patterns. It was fun to walk around the corner to find the next pattern.

We also stopped in what used to be the old city hall and is now a bead and craft store with some amazing pieces of artwork. If only I had a couple of thousand to drop on all the pretties I found!

 

 

 

 

 

Well worth the trip downtown to take the pictures. It’s a nice downtown area. 

Yawn! Went to do bible study and ended up taking a 2 hour nap. Dont you just love vacatioins?!

Put your index finger in front of your face. Thats how big these grasshpper things are here. Also... they fly.

Theres a decent breeze so its not so hot here at all. God totally loves me!!!

So far out in the country that my laptop just laughed when I asked it to search for a wifi signal.

Yay for a start to the miner rescue and now I am off to bed

House full of family, bowl full of homemade chili, and watching the thunderstorm outside. Feeling really peaceful...and ready for bed!

Sitting in the living room listening to stories and laughter. It reminds me of all the trips of my childhood.

We are at B&B's but nobody is here. Now is the breaking and entering portion of our trip. I will not do well in prison...
